Frequently Asked Questions About Therapy (FAQs)

How can therapy help me?

There are many ways that therapy can help:

Even if you have close friends or family that you talk to, it’s helpful to have space and support from a professional with an outside perspective, and the skills to help you to hear your own voice, to get clear on what you need and want.

After a therapeutic relationship has been established – a therapist can help you gain insight by gently pointing out ways that your behaviors are not in line with the values or goals you identify with.

You’ll learn how to trust yourself and to use your emotions to guide your actions.

You’ll accept yourself, your feelings, and your past.

You’ll learn to love yourself more and have more fulfillment in your relationships.

You’ll better understand boundaries, why, when and how to set them.

You can have more meaning and joy.

Your life will have a greater sense of purpose.

You’ll feel more optimistic about your future.

Are you taking new clients?

Yes! Because I am new to the area, as of March 27th I still have openings for new clients. I will create a waiting list once these last slots are filled.

Do you offer online telehealth or in-person sessions?

I’m offering in-person sessions to residents of Utah. I have office space in SLC and South Jordan.

I’m offering video tele-health sessions to residents in Virginia and DC.

How often do we meet?

This type of therapy is learned by consistent engagement with yourself, being curious about what is happening in your life, and focusing on the change you want to see. So we will meet weekly.

While reducing session frequency over time might seem logical, this will only prolong your process unnecessarily.

How long does therapy take?

The short answer is…it’s different for everyone.

Here is how we measure what is happening…

As you show up for yourself each week, we will be curious about your life past and present, you will work to put words to thoughts and feelings as you have them, in the moment. You will learn about yourself, and start to identify and work through the things that need your time and attention and healing.

During the week you are encouraged to really think about what insights or new awareness you gained in session, to notice what’s working for you, what isn’t, to journal, to try things differently. It can be helpful to come back into session with thoughts and feelings from the previous week or session.

We will be able to see your growth as you take the emotional work you do in therapy and find yourself applying it in your day to day life and relationships, noticing the difference, finding happiness, and feeling confident to navigate the ups and downs of life.

How much does therapy cost?

Individual sessions cost $225
Group therapy costs $125

Do you take insurance?

I am an out of network provider. This means that the client is responsible for payment at the time of service. At the end of the month, I can provide you with a super-bill which you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. You will need to call your insurance company to see if they offer this service.
